After conversations with readers who asked about African American mystery writers and with African American mystery writers who wished that readers had an easier time finding them, I have decided to do a weekly spotlight feature on an African American mystery writer.  The brief essays (in chronological order) will draw on material in my book, African American Mystery Writers: A Historical and Thematic Study (McFarland, 2008). The feature will appear every Monday under "Research Notes."
