Welcome to Frankie Y. Bailey's website
Hello,
You may be wondering about the feathered mask that conjures up images of intrigue and deception. I first encountered crime and justice as popular culture. From The Adventures of Robin Hood and The Scarlet Pimpernel to The Count of Monte Cristo and A Tale of Two Cities, I loved "costume dramas" filled with mystery, adventure, and romance. It was only later that I began to think about "crime" and "justice" as complex "social constructs" with profound, sometimes life-or-death, meaning in the real world. Today, I'm a criminal justice professor who studies crime history, and crime and mass media/popular culture. I'm also a mystery writer who explores social issues in my fiction. In both roles, as academic and as mystery writer, I am committed to finding the connections and describing the context. I believe that there is a story behind every crime -- a story that is larger than one individual or group of people, and that always tells us something about our society and ourselves.
Welcome to my website. Please come back often.
